What's it all About?
When you challenge yourself you go beyond who you think you are and it reveals who you can be. In fact, it's an amazing concept because exactly anyone can do it, and when you do it you will benefit from it. Often tremendously. There's such power in challenging yourself because you are so much more than you currently think you are, and every time you step out of the comfort zone into the unknown, the greater being that is you comes forth and you grow.
At Barry Running Club many of us pursue goals and challenges ourselves, but collectively we've never done anything quite like this before. Ashley Gulwell first suggested the notion of doing something challenging, and came up with the concept of "Running the World". The plan is that collectively many of us will record the distance we run over a 12 month period, to accumulate as a group the immense total of 25,000 miles. As the challenge progresses we aim to raise a bit of money for local charities along the way.

How is it going to Work?
This challenge is open to anyone who would like to contribute distance to the cause. We simply need you to donate a ‘minimum’ committed number of miles worth of running each week. Different runners of different abilities will be able to participate, and we would like to ask those that signup to run regularly either a minimum of five, 10, 15 or 20 plus miles per week.
Many of you track their runs with watches or smartphones, and use apps and websites like Strava and Runkeeper, and several others. So you know how far you are running regularly with the routes you do. All you need to do then is submit weekly mileage through the club’s website, and results will be published online, on the site and the Facebook page.
Click here to 'Register' and here to 'Submit' weekly mileage.
It is anticipated that those taking part do not necessarily have to attend the sessions at the club, they can simply submit their own run distances, and mileage gained from events and races that they enter.
As time goes by, and the miles build up, the club has come up with a fun idea by posting that they have run as far as certain cities along a predetermined route through lots of the major cities on Earth. So for example when the club has run at total of 443 miles, they will publish that they have run as far as Paris, and when its 798 along the route it would be Frankfurt for example.
If you have friends that run, tell them about this as well, get them to find and like the Running Club page, and join in the fun…..EVERY mile counts, no matter what!

Donate by Sponsoring us for the Charities Involved.
Throughout the next 12 months, we aim to raise some money along the way and split it equally between some charities. The charities that have been picked, were done so because there was a particular connection with various members of the club.
